St Sebastian's School Commemorates Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Fri 09 Sep 2022The pupils, staff and governors at St Sebastian's School are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The moral standards, devotion to service, aspirations, courage, friendship, perseverance, care and empathy demonstrated so consistently throughout her long reign are an inspiration to the whole school community as we collectively mourn the nation's loss.
The school had a moment of silence, reflection and prayer this morning. Link to BBC Newsround
Prayer
Gracious God, we give thanks
for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth,
for her faith and dedication of duty.
Bless our nation as we mourn her death
and may her example continue to inspire us;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Active Lifestyle
Wed 07 Sep 2022Over the next few weeks we are taking part in a programme to promote active lifestyles to the children.
From Monday 12th September to Friday 7th October we would like the children to come to school in an active way. This could include walking, jogging, scooting and biking.
We understand this is not possible for all children, but would encourage those who come to school by car to walk a little further from the car to school.
For each morning the children come to school in an active way, they will be given an 'active point'. For every five times, the children will receive a school success point.
At the end of the programme, the class with the most points will be awarded five class credits and a class trophy.

Important information - Early Finish, Pirate Day and Leavers Service
Sun 17 Jul 2022We are constantly reviewing the school’s risk assessment regarding the Red Extreme Heatwave warning which is predicted for tomorrow and Tuesday. According to my weather apps the hottest part of the day will be between 3-4pm which is when we send children home.
Therefore, we would like to give you the option to collect your children at 1.10pm on Monday and Tuesday when it’s predicted to be a couple of degrees cooler. Please email school at amy.parnham@gvsf.school if you would like to collect early so that we can have the children ready for collection from the normal exits.
Pirate Day/Treasure Hunt for the Pandas Class - unfortunately, we will have to postpone this until Wednesday afternoon 2.30-3.30pm so that we can avoid the heat outside.
Y6 Leavers Service in Church - With some children leaving early this service will be cancelled and the whole leavers event will take place on Thursday at 2pm - as previously advertised all Y6 parents/carers are invited, we will confirm the venue tomorrow. (either school or church)
We will be following all government guidance over the next couple of days and ensuring we keep the children as comfortable as possible. Please ensure that your child has a water bottle in school that they can refill, a hat and sun cream.
Apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.
