Impact

How will this be measured?

Pupil Voice will show:

  • Children have a real love of reading. They can discuss a wide range of texts - comparing, contrasting, analysing and evaluating.

  • Confidence is discussing the different strategies available to aid comprehension.

Displays around school and books will show:

  • That pupils, over time, develop a range of early reading knowledge which they are able to apply in their learning across the curriculum, as well as in ‘real life’ situations.

  • A clear progression of knowledge and an increasingly sophisticated understanding of language and text. Learning is in line with the school's reading progression and children make at least expected progress.

  • Embedded use of the Reciprocal Reading strategies (KS2) and fluency strategies e.g. text marking.

The subject leader will:

  • Collate appropriate evidence over time which evidences that pupils know more and remember more. Reading judgements are secured through the triangulation of test data, evidence from the pupil and the curriculum. Our test data comes from NFER and Accelerated Reader – both from AR test outcomes and the termly Star Reader tests

  • Monitor the standards in the delivery of reading to ensure outcomes are at expected levels.

  • Ensure assessment in completed fairly, accurately and in a timely fashion to ensure that all pupils continue to be challenged and supported as they need.

  • Provide ongoing CPD support based on the outcomes of subject monitoring to ensure that the impact of the curriculum is wide reaching and positive.
