  • Brass and Woodwind Concert

    Fri 18 Mar 2022

Our Penguin (year 4) class have been taking part in brass lessons this term - see their class page/Spring Term for great pictures and videos of them practising!

On the evening of Wednesday 16th March, the children were invited to play a concert at The Priory Ruskin to showcase their new talent. This was a fantastic musical evening that both children and parents thoroughly enjoyed.

Well done, we are so proud of you all!

  • Science Week

    Fri 18 Mar 2022

Every class from EYFS to Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed their science days this week. As well as trips to Great Wood Farm and Woolsthorpe Manor in Pandas and Koalas, every class has been ‘egg-sploring’ different variables to protect an egg from breaking. They were ‘egg-cited’ to watch their teacher climb up and drop their eggs from a height to see if they cracked. This investigation was linked to the book ‘Egg Drop’ by Mini Grey.

During Science Week, as well as carrying out their current science topic, children have also been learning about the importance of science and that science knowledge is used in almost every job. They also realised that not all scientists wear a white coat and invent potions! Some of the jobs they explored were: doctors, builders, palaeontologists, architects, hairdressers, zoologists, botanists, dentists, meteorologists, pilots and engineers.

    WHEN: Wednesday 23rd  March – Monday 28th March. 3.30pm – 4.00pm.

Please collect your child as normal before making your way to the hall.

WHERE: St Sebastian’s Primary School Hall

There are over 200 titles for you and your child to choose from, and with prices starting from only £2.99, there’s sure to be a book for everyone.

If you can’t make it to our Book Fair, try our Gift Vouchers available at www.bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/parents.

They’re a great way to ensure your child doesn’t miss out. Don’t forget that every book you buy can help to get FREE BOOKS for our school library!

The Book Fair has gone cashless this year! Scholastic have introduced an easy-to-use online payment service which you can use on the day. Alternatively, you can purchase gift vouchers prior to the event which can be exchanged for books on the day.

To build some excitement prior to the Book Fair, we are running a competition to win a £5 gift voucher to be used at the event. All your child has to do is create an idea for a brand-new story book and design a front cover. The more adventurous, the better!

Please bring any entries to Miss Critchley or Mrs Waddell by Tuesday 22nd February to be in with a chance to win! Your child will come home with a competition entry sheet which is also attached to this email.

  • St Sebastian's Netball Team

    Fri 11 Mar 2022

On Thursday  10th March, St Sebastian's netball team took part in a tournament against 13 other teams.  There were 4 teams in their group which meant they played 3 games - won 2, lost 1 against Allington, eventual tournament 2nd place winners.

The team came 2nd in the group which put them into the  4th,5th & 6th place playoffs - they won all their games which meant they finished in 4th place for the whole tournament.

A fantastic result for a small school netball team playing against much bigger schools.

The team were amazing all afternoon, showed all the school values as they played as a team: encouraged one another and built each other up,  supported each other and cheered each other on.

The team finished battered and bruised but in very good spirits.  Mrs Burton and Mr Parnham were very proud of the whole team and the 4th place achievement.

    Well Done!
