This term our Christian Value is 'Thankfulness'

'Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.' Psalm 106:1

We have had an incredibly busy half term and I am sure your children are all ready for half term! This week, we have enjoyed seeing so many parents and carers at the Church for our Harvest Service. The Tigers all did a fantastic job of presenting their drama about fruit and vegetables. We have had lots and lots of Harvest donations for Grantham Food Bank – so many that we struggled to get them all to church for the service! Many thanks for all of these. We have been using harvest as an opportunity to highlight our Christian Value for the term which has been Thankfulness.

It has been lovely to welcome parents and carers into school for parents’ evenings this week too, we hope you have found it useful and informative.

We hope everyone has a relaxing week next week and look forward to seeing you after the half term break.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Mrs Bedford

Class News: Pandas

Panda class have been enjoying our RE learning this term about special celebrations. We've been learning about Diwali and enjoyed finding out about how Diwali is celebrated. We've made patterns using shapes, buttons and chalks and enjoyed retelling the story of Rama and Sita.

Class News: Koalas

This term we have been really enjoying our explore and learn. As well as learning about our village, the seasons and the story of Moses, we have been constructing with Lego and blocks, practicing our sorting, cutting and sticking and being creative with play dough. A great half term Koalas.

Class News: Polar Bears

Polar Bears have really enjoyed our Art this term where they have been learning 'how to tell a story' through their drawing. We have used pencils, charcoal and pastels to create texture. We enjoyed bringing in our own soft toys to draw and create characters using simple facial expressions.

Class News: Tigers

Thanks to all the parents who are supporting their children’s learning at home! It makes a real difference! The children have just finished their writing project about instructions. We started by making paper airplanes and finished with instructions to Mrs Bedford about how to program a Micro:bit, feel free to ask them and I’m sure they can explain! Can I remind everyone that the children have 15 mins of Times Table Rockstars homework a week (garage mode) and that after half term the children will be getting some digital spelling shed homework – we have had great fun already testing out all the features and games! Have a wonderful half term!

Class News: Penguins

Last week in Elephant's class, we had a brilliant time cooking spaghetti bolognese whilst also welcoming in classes from across the school (and family members) to experience our 'Ancient Egyptian museum'. The children really enjoyed both experiences and deserve a big well done!

Class News: Elephants

In science, Elephants Class have been trying to prove that the Earth rotates by observing what happens to their shadow over time. They were able to make predictions, measure carefully, record their results and write conclusions to explain what they discovered. They have also been working really hard on developing their DT skills. They have planned, measured pieces of wood (discovering that being accurate is not always easy) and learned how to saw safely. Next, they will be sticking all their pieces together to create a moving display for a shop window.

Class News: Giraffes

'The residential was really fun doing dances and exploring new places. I will forever remember this memory in year six. What a lovely week. Thank you for making a wonderful experience.' (Sophie)

'My highlight was the mud walk and the agility course. It was very satisfying and calm. I would definitely go again. You meet new friends from different schools and get to learn new things about people you thought you knew really well. You will miss home on the first day but soon it feels like you live there.'   (Chloe)

'Going on fun adventures was fun. Everyone was smiling, laughing and enjoying the walks and boat rides. Seeing the seals was fun. It was very choppy. As we got back from the Norfolk broads we all played a game. Whilst everyone was on the disco floor,  they were getting us all hot chocolates and biscuits to eat after a long day. After all of that fun we were ready for a break in our comfy beds at home.' (Arabella)
