Homework

Homework and Projects for Autumn 2019

This term our topic will be ‘Super Settlements’, we will be looking carefully at the changes that occurred between the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age and how people in the pre-historic era lived during these times. This will build on what the Year 5’s learnt last year and offer more opportunities to explore this historical period. In Literacy, we will be basing our writing on the book UG: Boy Genius of the Stone Age and will be writing and performing our own persuasive adverts for a typical pre-historic Roundhouse.

You can complete the tasks in any order, but they need to be handed in fortnightly across this half term. The first piece of homework should be brought in by Friday 20th September.

How you present the work is up to you, but it needs to be suitable for keeping in your A4 sized Project Journal (photographs or print outs can be made).

Create a model of a Stone Age hut or a Roundhouse using any materials of your choosing. Either bring it into school or take a photo of your creation.

Design and draw your own settlement. What would it look like? Who would live there? Where would it be?

Research what they ate in the Stone Age, can you write a recipe for a meal they might have eaten?

Write a short story about a character who has time travelled back in time to the Stone Age.

Design your own Stone Age style cave painting or artwork.

Write an acrostic poem about either the Stone Age, Bronze Age or Iron Age.

Design and make a tool that people might have used in the Stone Age.

Pretend you are a TV presenter interviewing someone from the pre-historic era, what questions might you ask them?

Create a timeline of the Stone Age, through the Bronze Age to the Iron Age.
