Homework and Projects for Autumn 2 2019

This term our topic will be ‘Rotten Romans’, we will be looking at how Britain changed from the Iron Age to the end of the Roman occupation. We will be learning about what the Romans did for us and all about Julius Caesar. In Literacy, we will be basing our writing on the book The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry and learning more about the rainforest and deforestation.

You can complete the tasks in any order, but they need to be handed in fortnightly across this half term. The first piece of homework should be brought in by Friday 8th November.

How you present the work is up to you, but it needs to be suitable for keeping in your A4 sized Project Journal (photographs or print outs can be made). There will also be regular tasks set on Purple Mash during the coming months, linked to the topic.

Create a Roman shield or helmet that a soldier would have used. Either bring it into school or take a photo of your creation.

Write a fact file about Julius Caesar. You are a Roman soldier away at war. Write a diary entry describing your day.

Write instructions for a Roman recipe that they might have eaten at a Roman banquet.

Design your own Roman mosaic using traditional Roman style patterns.

Draw a picture of a Roman soldier in their uniform.

Design and make your own Roman style coins or pottery using clay.

Create an information leaflet about what life was like for a child in Roman times.

Can you write out a times table of your choice using Roman numerals?
