Year 6 hosted a brilliant VE Day Party yesterday afternoon for their parents and the local community. They did market research, planned and wrote the menu, made all of the food and then served it! I'm sure everyone that attended would agree that the children were amazing!
Year 6 Visit to London
Ukulele Workshop with Lincoln Ukulele Band
Year 6 are learning to play the Ukulele this term including: strumming, plucking, open strings and chords (C, F, G7 and G). The Lincoln Ukulele Band came into school, presented a whole school assembly on the ukulele and then worked with year 6.
As part of our learning about the issues people faced during WW2, we made Anderson shelters. We worked together in pairs, using junk to create a model. We researched and designed them first.
Have a look at our amazing Keith Haring inspired clay tiles! We worked with primary colours, just like Haring, and kept the shapes of the body simple.
Following on from our WW2 experience day, we wrote letters in role as a child evacuated to Grantham. We then walked to the local post office, bought stamps and posted them to our parents. We hoped they enjoyed reading them!
If you want to watch us performing our own poems about life as an evacuee, head over to the Video Resource Centre (link below).
